The Weekly Spoon: Why Whirlpool & Innit Split Up, Juicero/Whole Foods, Virtual Sommeliers

Austin and Chicago, here we come.

I'll be headed out to SXSW this week to check out the growing foodtech presence and to moderate the only smart kitchen panel at the festival.  The panel, called "The Smart Kitchen: Cooking Better with Technology", will be this Saturday. I'll be joined onstage by Vivian Barad of IDEO and LIsa Fetterman of Nomiku. You can find out more details about that session here.

After that, I'll be heading to Chicago for five busy days at the Housewares show. I'll be giving a talk on the future of the kitchen as well as moderating a keynote panel in the giant Grand Ballroom.

If you are going to be at either event and want to connect, drop me a line

As usual, we've got some must-reads this week, including a look at why Innit and Whirlpool called it quits, Juicero's Whole Foods rollout, a Q&A with the CEO of cow crowdfunding site Crowd Cow and more. Also make sure to check out my conversation with StoreBound CEO Evan Dash to hear us talk about innovation in the kitchen. You can read all of those stories below.

And oh yeah: Did I tell you that the Smart Kitchen Summit was named one of the best IoT conferences by Inc Magazine? Well we were, so check it out
