Scott Heimendinger

Technical Director, Modernist Cuisine

Scott Heimendinger is the technical director at Modernist Cuisine. Prior to joining the Modernist Cuisine team, Scott spent his career in the software industry, working for Microsoft and IBM. During that time, his passion for food and technology led him to create, a blog on which he explores at-home adaptations of Modernist cooking techniques using inexpensive, often improvised equipment. Scott was also the co-founder of Sansaire, a record-setting sous-vide circulator funded through Kickstarter. In 2012, Forbes included Scott in their honorable “30 Under 30” list in the Food & Wine category.

As technical director at Modernist Cuisine, Scott oversees all projects that include the intersection of technology, photography, and film. He is heavily involved with photoshoots for Modernist Cuisine Gallery, whether it be working with lasers, helping to build robots, or customizing camera rigs to capture unique views of food. Scott’s background in the software industry along with his passion for innovative cooking make him a go-to resource for all things technical in the kitchen and behind the camera.
